“One of the great liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change. Every society has its protectors of status quo and its fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions. Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change.” — Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

Never has the cry and clamor for the emancipation of the youth been so loud all over the world as we have it today . But as the reverend once said, ”…all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change.”, Nigeria seems to take the back seat on this one as it does many others. Where other governments are securing their future by massively investing in the growth of their youth by supporting their innovations and padding the way for ground breaking inventions, our government seems to be more interested in settling migrant cow herders all over the country and awarding 100 Naira ( one hundred naira) to the best graduating students in universities.

However, it goes without saying that the patterns on our palms are drawn quite differently and we can’t all think and act alike. There’s the Yoruba saying that admonishes us to remake and re-mould ourselves even after being born, ” ti a ba bi ni, a ma ntun ara eni bi ni”. The world has progressed beyond waiting hand and foot on the government to solve all of our problems. We can champion our own destinies and put the country back in the spotlights for good things other than internet fraud.

It can not be over emphasized, the need to have a corp of youths who are progressive in their thinking and are resolved in their minds to be achievers no matter the odds. There are laudable achievements and processes that have being started which will revolutionize thought patterns and give us platforms to accelerate the growth process.

From time to time, we’ll be announcing numerous opportunities for Startup accelerators, business and scholarship grants e.t.c

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead
